Modern Formula 1 cars, now heavier and wider than ever, struggle to navigate the circuit’s impossibly tight corners. While qualifying remains thrilling, an exhibition of talent and grit, the race itself unfolds like a high-speed procession with minimal changes to the starting grid, overtaking nearly impossible unless rain or strategy throws chaos into the mix.

Formula 1 plans to increase the number of mandatory pit stops in Monaco. The introduction of the new rule is part of an effort to make the racing more of a spectacle, to curb the risk of the event becoming just a little more than a parade.
